PET EXPO, HERE WE COME...
Hey: keep reading, because there's a chance to win 2 free passes to the Expo below!
As many of you know, I have a new Aussie shepherd puppy. (He
was briefly named Fawkes, but it’s been switched to Corben; he seemed to refuse
every other name.) Corben is smart.
The kind of smart where I keep expecting to come downstairs on Saturday morning
and find him sitting with a cup of coffee, doing the New York Times crossword
puzzle. At three months old, he’s consistently outwitting me. It’s terrifying.
He’s also—bar none—the most adorable creature on the face of
the planet.
So of course, as owner of a new pet, I want to make sure he’s
got the best treats, food, training, and toys. How lucky for us that the OttawaPet Expo is coming up this month! (You can also check them out on Facebook and Twitter.)
We attended the Pet Expo last year and were really impressed
with the cool things to see. There’s a fabulous pool set up for the waterdogs
to show off their water tricks, and this year Natalie Duchesne of Mini-Cochon
will be showing off the training of pot belly pigs, as well. Exotic pets are
also on the agenda!
Visit the vendors’ tables to get advice on training and
feeding, and take home some samples for your fur-baby to try.
And of course, the event is pet-friendly, so you’ll see
Corben there with his five Italian Greyhound extended siblings. If you see us,
do come say hi! Corben loves to meet new people and by that time, he may even
know how to greet you in fluent English.

I'm really interested in meeting the people from Valley Mastiff Rescue. They rescue Mastiffs and Bulldogs and are seem like the most amazing and selfless people. I want to shake their hand and thank them for what they are doing. (http://valleymastiffrescue.com). I think it will be fun for my bulldog Lucy, too.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know there was a Mastiff rescue! It must be the slobber-iest rescue EVER. I'll have to go see them!
DeleteDogs, dogs and more dogs!!!! How can you get enough of dogs! Our girl died 2 years ago and we're pretty keen to get a new dog, so we'd love to go to the pet expo to do some research since it has been 15 years since we've had to even think about what we wanted in a dog.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great reason to head down to the expo. Beware: the pot belly pigs will totally steal your heart. If you wanna talk Aussies, come find me!
DeleteErin Kenny, you're our third winner of the tickets for the Pet Expo! Email jordandangerwrites (at) gmail (dot) com for the details!
DeleteI'm looking forward to seeing the agility groups and finding out what I can do with my poochie! (PS - your pup is ADORABLE!)
ReplyDeleteThe agility groups are super cool to watch and will make you look down at your own dog, who is licking his crotch and chewing on a mitten, and think you've got a lemon. But still totally worth it. Thanks for the compliment on Corben! He really is THE prettiest puppy ever. (I'm not even biased.)
DeleteCassie, check your twitter, cuz you're a winner!
DeleteCan't wait to see the "Golden Rescue" booth at the expo again - Went last year, and spent a long time getting some "Golden" loving. Such beautiful dogs and a fabulous cause!!
ReplyDeleteGoldens are one of those breeds where everyone just falls in love!
DeleteI love watching the Dock Dogs - are they there this year?
ReplyDeleteI sure hope they are, cuz I love them! PS Check your twitter...you're a ticket winner!
DeleteNew Moon Rabbit Rescue of course! They are a couple of very selfless ladies, and I try to support them whenever I can
